Appeasement Deja Vu?
In 1938, Adolph Hitler was using the presence of Germans in the Sudetan region to make war on Czechoslovakia.
In September of1938, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain met with Adolph Hitler in Munich and made a peace deal with him.
In spite of that treaty, Hitler’s German wehrmacht forcefully occupied Sudetanland in Czecholsovakia, in October of 1938. The world remembers what tragedies happened in Europe in the years that followed, until 1945.
In 2014, Vladimir Putin used the presence of Russians in the Donbas region to attack Ukraine. In the years since that attack, Putin has persisted in his war against the people of Ukraine.
Now In 2025, Donald Trump, Pete Hegseth and JD Vance approve Vladimir Putin’s war and occupation against Ukraine.
Is the Trump triumvirate of appeasement enablers ignoring the belligerence of Putin and his legions. . . a replay of Chamberlain’s 1938 deal with the devil?
For my mind misgives some consequence, yet hanging in the stars, shall bitterly begin with this policy’s enablers.
