Hey I completely agree with you, Ryan. In my dreams, I'm the next faulkner because I happened to have lived in Miss'ippi in my childhood.
But the grammarly guy--whoever he is, maybe the Orwell big brother for all we know--has a valid point about commas!
I can't tell you how often I have noticed, online, that a comma, when positioned according to-- not grammarly restrictions, but rather--everyday speech and thought-pattern pauses--would have clarified the meaning of many a long-drawn-out run-on sentence that we often encounter in contemporary commentary.
I believe commas are due a re-trial in the appeals court of online discourse. When used logically--in accordance with actual speech patterns--they are very useful.
