In that fictio-mythical setting, the redpill or bluepill choice made a significant difference in a person's life.

That red v blue dichotomy is evolving, we see now, in a different context, with much of sociological identity revolving around edudation: the work-from-home blues and the nuts 'n bolts reds.

Maybe a future USA will be populated with red proles and blue brahmins.

But plenty of purple in between those two would make it much more manageable, and probably mediate some domestic tranquility that we might not have otherwise.
