Thanks for your report. We need to work on this.

America now is a far cry from the pioneering land of opportunity that deToqueville described two centuries ago.

The violence-prone dysfunction that you identify has been there all along, since the days of persecuting natives as we bullied our way across three thousand miles of undeveloped continent.

What is tragic is that pioneering spirit has constricted itself into a pugnacious character, which is what enabled the tRump presidency.

But we need to get past this somehow. My own antidote is faith in a man who taught peace and love long ago and was executed for his teaching.

But I know that's not everybody's view of what is needed here.

It could be we are destined for a terrible reckoning in which the nations of the earth will exclaim . . . Woe!, woe for the once-great, strong nation; in virtually one hour our violent obsession has manifested itself as destruction.

Yes, umair. we need to work on this.

Thanks for identifying the problem. Your admonition is crystal clear. We need to heed that warning, act upon it and change our wicked ways.
