The golden age of American journalism was the middle of the 20th-century.
Toward the end of that 20th, a 500-year phase of history-- documented in paper and ink--ended.
Those broad pages of analytical print got incinerated in the hot pursuit of digital communication.
Front pages shriveled into bits; analysis abbreviated into bytes. One sad outcome--read 'em and weep-- was Twitter.
Twitter trivializes everything.
Another dysfunctioning outcome was Facebook, which puts a Face on every snippet of news while completely ignoring the body of information that pumps blood and air to that talking head.
We are going to have to find away out of this constrictive dearth of essential information.
Perhaps what we are doing here and now on Medium can contribute to the renascence of authentic news and information analysis.
Find your Medium groove and ride it. Ride it deep and wide, traverse it beyond the mere twit and face of this maelstrom of trivialization that sucks us down into a vortex of drowning liberty!
