This is the best advice I have seen since my first reading of the gospels over 40 years ago.

So many of us believers have fallen into the "evangelical" politicizing trap which provokes us to waste vast time and resources in protecting the institutional and cultural turf that we think we have gained and therefore need to defend.

But the new testament documents the contra-intuitive principle: Christian faith flourishes in times of being persecuted.

When we think we are winning some kind of cultural contest, we get fat and happy, then fat and angry when the tide turns again.

If we would stay centered on Jesus himself, and his supernatural counsel, we would do better.
